Directions: from the Red Lion Hotel on Wolf Road, Colonie, NY, to the Mohawk Harbor, Schenectady:
This is a 25 minute ride with minimal traffic. For those of you using your GPS, the address for the Druthers
Brewing Company is 221 Harborside Way, Schenectady, NY.

Leave the parking lot of the Red Lion Hotel and turn right (north) on Wolf Road. Take a left onto Albany Shaker
Road and go under the bridge and south onto I-87 (Northway) for 2.8 miles. Merge onto I-90 west (towards
Buffalo) for 5.7 miles. Take Exit 25 onto I-890 for about 5 miles. Take Exit 4B for Erie Blvd. Continue on Erie
Blvd through downtown Schenectady. At the first light after the traffic circle, turn left onto Mohawk Harbor Way
and then a quick right onto Harborside Drive. Very shortly, you can turn right and pull into a parking lot behind the
row of buildings. The Start Point is at Druthers Brewing Company.

The bike ride will have two distance options.
Option #1: This ride will start at the Mohawk Harbor next to Druther’s and ride along the Mohawk River around
the back of the new Casino which was built on the old American Locomotive site. Then you will venture into the
Historic Stockade and Riverside Park before heading over the Western Gateway bridge into Scotia. In Scotia,
you tour some of the neighborhoods, ride down beautiful tree lined Sunnyside Road and around Collins and
Freedom Park. Stop at Jumpin Jacks for a “Jack Burger.” Cross the bridge and back into another street passing
through the Stockade on up to Old Italy section. There is a great place to eat at More Perreca’s on Jay Street.
From there you will ride around and through Union College before returning back to the Start Point.
Distance: 10.9 miles or 17.5 km
Elevation change: 232 feet (this is basically a flat ride)

Option #2: This ride is an extension of Option #1, basically an up and down ride along the bike path along the
Mohawk River. Shortly after leaving Jumpin Jacks and recrossing the Western Gateway Bridge, you will take a
left and enter the Mohawk - Hudson Bikeway. This will take you under the bridge and off to the west (upstream
along the Mohawk River). You will pass Lock 8 where you might get to see a boat go through and then further on
you will ride down into the Kiwanis Park (bathroom available there) and turn around to return to the bridge where
you left the Option #1 route. Once you get back to that point, you will turn left and continue with Option #1 riding
through the Stockage and Union College before ending back at the Start Point.
Distance including Option #1: 21.2 miles or 34.1 km
Elevation change including Option #1: 429 feet (this is basically a flat ride)
