Club Information

The Empire State Capital Volkssporters (ESCV) were formed in 1987 in Albany, New York to foster fun and companionship in walking and to promote Volkssport events. Our walks are fun events where all who participate are winners. Our goal is to get outdoors, exercise without competition, meet new friends, and enjoy the fresh air. Volkssports events are non-competitive and open to the public. Credit walkers: $3.00 fee, NON-IVV walkers: $2.00. The AVA book "Starting Point" lists the YRE and Seasonal event start points held all over the United States. The book also explains the AVA record keeping and award system. The AVA publishes an informative bimonthly newspaper "The American Wanderer" which lists members' event and distance milestones along with walking articles and  upcoming walks in the US.
Dues are due on the first of the year.

2018 Annual Dues: $12 single: $20 Family.

A  typical walk is 6.2 miles (10 kilometers) and lasts about 2 to 2 1/2 hours depending on your individual walking pace. We also sponsor shorter 5-6km walks. Many walks take place on weekends and are specifically laid out to maximize the area's scenic beauty. Check out our summer Wednesday morning(6:45July/Aug.) (9AM) and evening (6PM) guided walks from May - 1st Wed in Sept. The Empire State Capital Volkssporters is just one of hundreds of similar Volkssport walking clubs throughout the world.
